Google, which had been suing a collection of scam companies that were selling work from home businesses built around Google ads, won a $1.6 million settlement against them. Consumers who were victimized were not party to the litigation.
So, score this as a win for Google protecting its reputation and trademark. And a sort of win for consumers who, hopefully, will be more aware of this sort of scam and have fewer business ventures aimed at ripping them off.
What sort of scam was this? The kind that says you can make a lot of money doing very little. The kind that says you don’t have to pay very much, but then charges you a lot. The kind that in the end costs you dearly and rewards you not at all.
